I'm in a rut. Nothing too bad, but I need to jazz up my life.
Monday through Friday we both come home at the same times and do the same things. Feed the critters, read the paper, blog a bit. Make dinner, eat, read a bit more. Then get sucked into stupid prime TV. Read a bit more, and off to bed.
I know I’m in a rut because I haven’t even been looking for new recipes to make during the week. I’ve been buying the same things at the grocery store. The menu rotation is getting boring.
I also need to do something about my wardrobe. I live in blue jeans T-shirts and sweat coats when needed. (This week it’s been needed, wind and rain since I got back) The problem finding clothes is that they really don’t make stuff for my age group. I’m a lost child of the 80’s not ready to join the Dockers set (not to offend anyone who wears Dockers, there just not me.) I try new stores but they always seem way too young for me. However I won't be giving up my sandels for anything.
Even this blogs in a rut. (No need to comment otherwise, it’s just my humble opinion) I use to keep a pad hand to write down good blogging material that I see or comes to mind when I’m out and about. You know you always loose that stuff in our head before you get to the key board.
Maybe I’m reacting to the weather. It the last day of July and it should be in the upper 80* Rain & wind and 60*
Bleh.
That’s pretty much all I got. It’s been an uneventful day but I’m all caught up. Except with my blog roll, you know who you are. I’m off to do some catching up.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Blech!
Sigh.
Sigh again.
Lost Child of the 80s. What a great description. Anyone in tune with my iPod playlist would probably think the same of me.
I feel yet another sleepless night coming on. Two in a row. Not a good thing.
Enjoy your surf. Kick out of that rut! After all, tomorrow is August! Whoo-Hoo!
Be well, Brad.
I think it's an epidemic. :)
Wish we could go shopping for clothes together. I go around looking like the maid that I don't have.
The 80's were so easy.*sigh*
I'm a total fashion disaster. Basically t-shirts and jeans. Imagine my surprise when I found out by reading someone's blog that jorts weren't cool anymore! Now what do I do? ;-)
BTW, I'll actually trade weather with you. It's in the upper 90s here with really high humidity.
yep i know what you mean about the clothes, when i went to go get a wedding dress(i've put on a few pounds(40) to be exact) and all i wear is levi's and blouses(t-shirts) and this women comes out with a dress my grandmother would of wore...i politly asked her if she had a more younger looking style..she did , little did i know it would enhance my fattness.. good luck with the clothes
Oh, Child of the 80's:o)) You have it easy. Try being a Child of the 70's!! lol
Hope your Gran is ok.
Hey, Sweet Child O' Mine... wanna go shopping?
I'm in a rut too - maybe it's something in the water? Seriously, I just had a talk with Clarke about our (I'm going to have to stop using the word rut or the next sentence would be pornographic) nighttime ROUTINE, which has staled. It is way too easy to fall into the trap of the boob-tube. I suggested we play some scrabble or he teach me chess, or go for a walk.
I think Khol's has your name all over it.
lovins -
fiwa
I need to get some new clothes too. My closet looks pretty pathetic, though I am happy to just wear my jeans and t-shirts.
Hope your out of the blahs today. :-)
You may feel blah, but you do write a great blog post.
I hope our beach has male lifeguards. The past two have had girls. You know I'll be posting for you.
I like Fiwa's shopping idea. Nothing like Spend Therapy to get someone out of a rut--until the bills come next month, mind you.
I'd take you up on that if I were there. I could use a hard-core shopping day. I need JEANS!
Be well.
I don't think your blog is stuck in a rut - I enjoy reading it.
I'm not sure about the shopping idea - since when did spending money on things you don't need solve anything?
I think there are a ton of us "lost child of the 80's" out there. Lucky for everyone else, I finally lost the "80's hair". Listen to my iPod, a trip back to the 80's. Look at my clothes, same thing, tshirts and Levis. I hate polyester, anything that is even remotely poly. Love 100 % cotton. This is the stuff we grew up with, it's hard to give it up.
Blog rut, I know only too well, that's why I messed mine up so bad last week, I couldn't stand it anymore.
Recipes..
Try Pioneer Woman Cooks website, lots of good stuff there, if you want healthier, try the "cooking light" recipe, or if you want my grilled shrimp recipe, just ask me. Maybe we should all post our rut rotation meals, and we'll get some idea's. My rut rotation can't possibly be the same as yours my friend.
Hang in there...
I can relate to the rut thing. I Need a whole makeover! Just don't go changing too much Brad, I kinda like you just like you are!!!
Hugs
XOXOXOX
I hear ya brother. We're in a wee rut ourselves. But I don't see us getting out of it any time soon. :(
That's just the way things are around here right now. I'll be glad when it's over though. I personally think our weather is sucking the life right out of us. It's been unbearable lately. Temps around 104 with a heat index of 110! bleh!!!!
I'll trade with you for a couple days :)
Thanks for the wishes....my day was great!
I think it's "rut -time" the world over. Here in the UK we are all suffering from lack of money to make life interesting and we've got so used to having to spend money to enjoy ourselves that we all seem to have forgotten that it doesn't take money.
You've just had stress with Grandma too, so it's not surprising that your taking stock.
Take care
I have been feeling the same way Brad...all things are just in a rut. But I am trying...it seems that age make us even more creatures of habit than I was aware of.
I am not of the dockers set, either and I was really spoiled when I was at the car dealership, I could wear jeans and tee's if if wanted...now, the idea of dressing up every day is really daunting.
I hope your weekend has been awesome and relaxing.
Hugs.
:)
Please trade weather with me. It's 98 degrees with 95% humidity here. I'm MELTING!
Hope the rut goes away soon if you want it to. But sometimes, ruts are nice. ;)
I'll take you shopping! Come on, it'll be fun.....We'll people watch and loudly make fun of them as we walk by and then we'll snack ourselves into a coma in the food court......
A trip might be the trick. We just spent the weekend in Denver. How fun and how incredibly exhausting. As if we needed more exhaustion?
Here's hoping today finds you lifting up. And maybe looking for something different for dinner?
Damn how I miss WA weather. Push through it. Get yourself out of the 80's, at least make it to the 90's. If you were really in a rut you would n't be talking about it. PUsh on my brother, push on.
Hopefully you're out of your rut by now :) but I do understand the feeling. I think Xmas is the only thing keeping me out of one now. But come on over and get some recipes when you're bored in the kitchen :)
