The BBQ went well, we all had great time. It was like not a day had gone by for Mark & I - He's the same gregarious, loving man he's always been. He has gotten quite muscular over the years and both Lolli and I are sporting bruises from his hugs. Lolli also is sporting a bite mark. He's a bit over the top.
I was WAY over served and the pics all turned out blurry. Go figure. Mark's girlfriend Stephanie is a lovely woman. They will surely be best buds to us all. I feel really lucky to have caught up with him and them both and to have them back in my life. You can't have enough friends now can you.
Katie, the friend that re-introduced us spent the night as well as Lolli and we all had a fine breakfast this morning.
Mark brought whiskey with him and my head is hurting and my tongue feels like it's wearing a sweater. I've napped all afternoon after taking Lolli and Katie home. We had a great BBQ. I made Kalbi (Korean short ribs) Fruit salad (with papaya) and potato salad. I'd give you a proper recipe but I make it up as I go. But here's the basics for Kalbi. Or at least what I did this time.
Marinade 5 lbs of Baby back ribs in:
9 cups of soy sauce
3 cups water
1 1/2 cup sugar
8 tablespoons cloves of minced garlic
5 table spoons of roasted sesame seeds
3 cups of green onion - minced
3 tablespoons of sesame oil
4 tablespoon of fresh ginger
1 tablespoon of red pepper
1 tablespoon of pepper
Let the ribs marinade over night and grill on the barbie.
Yum.
So I have a new/old best bud. If my head wasn't feeling so thick I'd be wagging my tail. I look forward to seeing them both again soon and catching up more with Mark, we have a lot of life to catch up on - The man's been married and divorced three times since we last met. I'm happy to have him back in my life. How cool is that ?
Angie and her kids came up from Tacoma too. Trey and Sammy are the best kids and love spending time with us up here.
We'll opt for the non-drunken photographer next time.

How cool? Very. Friends are so hard to come by, so anytime you find one that you can connect to, well, you're lucky.
The ribs sound so good!
How totally fun! There are a couple friends I would love to reconnect with. How awesome for you! I love the pics by the way!
It's always so nice to be able to reconnect with someone who was important in your life. Like you said, one can't have too many friends.
Your ribs sound delish!!!!
Sounds like you had a blast! And those ribs sound like heaven. I'm a sucker for BBQ no matter where it's from!! ;)
XOXOXOX
Sounds like a great time except for the whiskey sweater tongue.
How fun! Nothin' like good friends, whiskey and a camera! ;)
Sounds like a great time.
Your right, you can never have too many friends.
It's so nice that even when friends don't see each other for years, once you get back together you just pick right up where you left off.
Awesome times you had there! Blurry pics mean happy photographers........
ohmygawd... I'm still laughing over Summer's comment. I think whiskey sweater tongue might permanently join my lexicon.
The drunken pictures crack me up. My favorite though is the one of the three of them at the piano. Everyone looks like they're having such a good time.
I'm so glad for you that reconnected with this friend. Speaking of which, we need to get together for lunch soon, I still have a seashell with your name on it.
Love you -
fiwa
That is SO fun! I love how the pics get blurrier and blurrier...and I love even more reading all you have found!
Thrilled for you, Brad. Be well.
Well I had a comment that was so brilliant and so funny that you would have been absolutely dazzled by the contents and would have praised me to the heavens for my creative mind....but blogger was "unavailable" and I couldn't post it. So, of course, I've forgotten it now. Glad you had fun sugah...have somethin' sweet for that hangovah...couple spoons a honey should do it. Smooches.
Glad you had a good time and have reconnected so well with someone from your past.
I think the drunken photography just adds to the lightness of the day!
Well, now you did it...you have me craving ribs at 9:30 a.m. on a Tuesday! ;)
Looks like a good time was had by all. I wish I was there to sing a long on the piano!
It looks as if you had a fantastic time, sometimes with an old friend it is just as if not a second has passed by - lovely. And the photographs are brilliant - they wouldn't have worked anywhere near as well if they had been in focus!
um...still nursing a killer chuchaqui?
Just teasing you. The best hangovers come from the best parties.
Be well, Brad.
i like those blurred pictures! very expressive!
blurry photos....funny man.
Looks and sounds like you guys had a blast! Can't wait to come to the next get together. (I'd be happy to be designated photographer...) :-)
