The Windemere Cup/Regatta

Today is the opening day of boating season. In Seattle that means crew races through the Montlake Cut and the parade of yachts.

Downtown From Lake Union

Sleepless in Seattle Houses Boat

The drawbridge over the Montlake Cut looking towards Lake Washington from Lake Union. The Cut, also known as The Ship Canal, connects the big fresh water lake that is Lake Washington with the smaller Lake Union {which then connects to Puget Sound via the Ballard Locks} and is where the University of Washington holds crew regattas like the Windermere Cup.

Team Spirit

Bill & Melinda Gate's house

Gates Residence

Yet another view. The house is so big — 66,000 square feet — that it doesn't fit into one picture properly.

This gorgeous little piece of land is a 2.2 acre beauty that sits on a point surrounded on three sides by Lake Washington. It was recently listed for sale. The asking price — $25 million dollars US. And it doesn't even have a house on it!

I'll go in with you and Jay on it. What's 25 mil anyway?

Great photos Brad! I've always wondered what Bill's house looked like. Livin' like a billionaire! Must be nice. I've got my own little slice of nirvana, though. Take care!

It really is to bad they have to like is such a paltry little cottage....

Love the "Less suck, more awesome" sign!!

Hey next time can you guys just go on up to Bill's house and ask for a tour? haha ;-)

I can't decide if houseboat living would be cool or not. Seems like there would be a lot of negatives.

Despite Sleepless In... and Dr Frazier Krane, I don't know much about Seattle - but it looks great!
We've got a municpal boating lake where you can hire a rowing boat for £5 to go out to see the floating, dead rats and the two-headed ducks but it doesn't really seem comparable.
Piss on Bill for me, will you. X

WOW! I love the pictures!! Wheneer I hear the word Regatta I think of the old show, Friends...annoying I know.

So that's their pad, eh? Is that a putting green on their lawn? It looks very bright inside!

Cool pictures, now, wake up! :)
xoxo,
Elizabeth

Beautiful photos Brad. I am so jealous of those that live with such beauty, and yes, I know that I am free and able to live anywhere, but it's just not that easy to pick up and move your life, you know? It's nice to know that you don't take it for granted. But then, you are not like that. :)

I am going to buy the 2 acres, just so you know. HA!

Beautiful pics....thank you!
Not that I'm jealous ...because honest to God...I'm not...BUT..just what does one DO with a 66,000 sq. foot house? Sure couldn't call it cozy. Oh well,I'm happy for them both...since they are such great benefactors...they make a whole lot of others awfully happy too. Enjoy the day, Brad. Hugs.

Gorgeous pics, Brad. I love those. Some I've seen and some I haven't. That lil 2.2 acre thing made my jaw drop. Holy cow!! 25 mil???? Sheesh.

Aren't we blessed to live in such a beautiful area?!

Roggie most often works just a block or so from the Ballard Locks. It's a lovely area. Golden Gardens park/beach is a favorite of ours.
