He taught me how to collect the eggs
And how to crib the corn
He taught me how to drive on a 1923 John Deere
And how to respect tools and people
He taught me about relationships just by the way he treated her
He taught me to love to read
He taught me to love to teach
He taught me how to fish for trout on glacier clear lakes
When it was time, and I had no other, he taught me what it was to be a father
He taught me how to field a garden
and how to be a man.
