And she kinda tastes like it to.
Tomorrow I go buy some good honey. It did however give me enough pep to clean the house and do the laundry. This place looked like Napoleon's army marched through on their retreat from Moscow. It looks much better now.
The poor boy came home cranky and cross. I sat down at the table with him and with in a minute recognized that he's caught the bug. Thank god I'm better because if he's sick it will cause havoc at work next week.
He doesn't get it yet, doesn't think he's sick. A day or two will tell.
SO! - my new resolution.
--change of diet (no more fake-food)
--take my vitamins
--walk the pooch and get some exercise
--drink the tea (Kool-aid?)
I've migrated away from a lot of processed foods for main meals. I still have to have guilty snacky pleasures. But I want to focus on getting back to three square meals with no processed food. I'm not going to go cold turkey but just move in that direction. Anyone have any tips ?
We're suppose to meet our new niece this weekend at Mom's for Easter dinner. I've been concerned about my own germ-y-ness and was just going to be careful since I'm past the fever stage but if Partner is coming down with it there's no way we should be around babies. We'll have to see.
Yet again another ramble - have a good weekend

If you think that's bad - imagine it straight without the jasmine! It does take some getting used to - I will admit. Honey and lemon helps mellow the grassy flavor...
mother earth, I was howling at that!
Hi, my name is fiwa, and I am addicted to junk food. Sorry, 'fraid I don't have much good advice in that area, but I wish you luck.
I hope partner doesn't get sick, that would be a shame to miss seeing the new baby!
lovins to you both -
fiwa
Oh, I am happy you are on the mend and sad to read Partner may be getting it.
Your new resolution sounds a lot like mine did at some point last year and I continue to remind myself of it too.
Vitamins. Ck. An absolute must, esp. when I am on the road.
Eating healthier. Ck.
Exercise. Working on making this a habit.
Tea. Ck. A daily staple.
As for hints on not eating as much processed food...what I have found to help me is to buy fresh fruits and veggies and keep ready. Within hands reach. Munch on em. Make smoothies with em. Juice em. Steam em. Saute em. Stir fry em.
I find a bit of chicken or shrimp with veggies to be quite delightful.
For me it is much easier to eat healthier during the spring and summer than fall and winter.
Good luck in your resolutions. I know you can do it.
Bear is one lucky puppy.
Happy Easter to you and yours.
Me and the kids stole the ickies from Rachel....And passed it on to you guys.....we sorry! At least it's a short one right?
Ahem, yeah, not so much.
You are one step ahead of me. I am considering getting away from the bad foods and onto the good ones. lol No, really though. I'm starting to take baby steps. Switching to organic where I can, making sure lots of good stuff is available.
So sorry partner is ill, it's a stinker of a nasty thats going around. Hopefully he'll pull a miracle and be healed by tomorrow.
I hope you do get to see the baby... I love babies.
Hugs to you!
i wish we lived closer so you could hire the same teenager that i hired yesterday to clean my studio. it was worth every buck.
feel better. i hate it when you don't have that razoredge.
I'm happy to hear that you are among the living, and really, I hope that partner doesn't get it.
New babies are so awesome. I hope you get to see her, and that partner does, too.
No processed food is a huge undertaking, but you can do it. It does require thought and planning-but hell, you're worth it!
Happy Easter weekend!
So glad you're feeling better! I hope Partner has the watered-down version and he's back to normal soon. I heard on some dreadful daytime TV show that you should stick mostly to the perimeter inside the grocery store because that's where all the healthy stuff is...though the west wall of our store is where the ice cream is...but that's dairy, right?! Hope you can get together with your family. Happy Easter!
Oh no...you've had the flu? Ick! I sure hope you and your partner get better soon. It would be a shame to have spring here and not be able to get out in it!
I'm dieting too...plain natural foods are the best way to go!
A good recipe for a very natural food that's awesome and has only good things in it. Chop fresh veggies into diced pieces. I've used cauliflower, rutabagas, parsnips, potatoes, onions, or carrots...but cauliflower is my fave. Spread them out on a cookie sheet, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with a bit of sea salt and black pepper to taste. Roast in a 350° oven for 1/2 hr. Turn the veggies with a spatula, bake another 1/2 hr. and serve. The veggies sort of caramelize and get a touch of toasty brown, tender and are marvelous. You won't even believe how good plain old cauliflower can be!! Now that's about as plain, natural and good for you as food gets! It's great when you're baking other foods anyway. You can also get creative with the spices and herbs you use on them!
I hope you and your partner have a great Easter!
Hi...I linked to you via Val's site.
Processed foods:
I am allergic to soy and gluten intolerant (NOT allergic, just problematic). So...that means basically convenience foods-OUT! I lost 15 pounds right off the bat...not that I needed to, but the baby weight that stuck around was gone. So...here's what I do (only 'cuz you asked!):
Crock pot. If you are a carnivore like I pretty much have to be, I go to a farm and buy the entire side of animal that is grass-fed. You might not have to go to such an extreme, but there is SOY in almost every feed that is not open-field grass fed. Then cook the roast in the crock pot and, instead of buying cold cuts at the store, use leftovers of the roast for sandwiches, etc. throughout the week. Gets away from that nasty processing of deli meats.
Snack on nuts and stuff. Trader Joes, Whole (Paycheck) Foods, etc. have nuts or other snacky foods either bagged or bulk that are simply made and good.
When I started to make The Transition I read somewhere that reading labels and going for "less is more" is better. Compare two different brands of pretzles. I buy Snyder's of Hanover for the kids. Why? Only like 7 ingredients, all of which I can pronounce, as opposed to over 20 ingredients of chemical-sounding names. Simplicity is best.
Start keeping fresh fruit out, in a bowl or basket, at reach--you're more likely to go for that than cookies if it's the first thing you see.
Indulge in a little of what you need when you need it (like me and my obsession with chocolate), but try to find some that's good quality and simply made. If you don't, you'll do bad to your soul.
BTW I'm an transplanted Oregon girl. I miss the West. Nice to read you.
Be well.
If I don't stop making and eating cheesecakes, I'm going to explode. But at least it's unprocessed food.Do healthy and fattening cancel each other out?
So you passed the crud on? I'm so sorry to hear partner is the new sickie. I hope he gets better very soon.
