A False Start & True Story

As I walked into the house tonight the phone was ringing. My Mom on the line, my 97 year old grandfather was back in the hospital and was 'un-responsive' what ever the hell that means. Everyone agrees that no heroic efforts are to be made to revive him.

Mom say's she driving down to Salem in the morning. (great, my 68 year old mother's driving for 3+ hours in bad weather, alone) Mom tells me to get my shit together and get down there...."you’ll want to be there before..." Of course Mom, I'll be there.

True to form, grandad woke up a half hour later, said he was hungry and where was grandma ?

When I was 18 and told my grandparents that I was gay, this man looked me in the eye and said:

"Well, don't hide it and don't flaunt it."

Best advice I ever had.

Whenever it comes, he's going out in style.

UPDATE: Grandad's been released from the hospital, home and resting now.

Man, I missed ALOT while I was gone!
I'm glad that your grand-dad decided that now wasn't his time, and that God gave him more time to come up with stunning words of wisedoms!

Always,
Crusty~
