Come friends, let me tell you a story...
I may have stated it before but one of the reasons we bought this place (Home) was to be closer to my mother and stepfather. We did cut down on the response time to urgent needs, but it certainly increased the number of distress calls.
No good deed goes un-punished.
Picture it:
9:30 PM last night,
Partner and I, warm and snugly in bed watching TV.
The call: (from Mom) She and her friend Jane have been looking at the existing Christmas tree and decide it's too dried out and faded. And will never do for Christmas.
(Look alert Friends & pick up on this, It's what I live with)
I mention too Mom that many Christmas trees dry out if not properly tended to. And it might just be OK as is.
Yeah.
Bad choice on my part.
Clearly not what she wanted to hear – She was looking for family conformity and was having nothing of desent.
10:45: Mom again. Mom and Jane have now un-decorated the tree and need us too have the new tree (that has not been picked out) to her by 3:00 pm because they couldn't POSSIBLY have it decorated in time and still meet my sister and niece at the airport at 9:30
ME: whipped my ass around the office today to get payroll done and get those boys paid for Christmas and then had to leave to office at two to take care of Momma –
Ya know ? if that’s all I have to bitch about – I’m good, and should shut my YAP!
And I took care of all Mom's needs today - cuz I'm a good son that way.
And Santa ? I'm still wanting that 42" wide screen plasma TV.
Just saying.

I hope Santa brings you a tv under the tree because you have been nice!
clearly, you deserve that plasma tv.
hear that, mama?
Next year how about one of those really nice artificial Christmas Trees and a Pine scented candle? Wait, I know your mother and that would never do. I'm sure partner would agree it's a good idea.
Oh dear, family really does help make the holiday *special*. You are a good son for playing along. I hope Santa remembers to bring you that tv! :)
