OK, I'll stop with the pic's here soon but I got a couple of good ones of the goldfish pond last night, well not really the pond but the fish. I'll get a shot of the whole pond another time.
The netting is to keep the Heron from fishing. They're suppose to be down at the bottom of the pond chilling out for winter but it's been relatively mild so they're swimming at the surface. I'm 5'11" and the water comes up to my chest standing in the pond. (don't ask) They basically don't eat from Oct. till April when the water warms back up. I wondered if they're were at the surface for food and tried feeding them but they had no interest. Very fun to watch when it's warm outside. Good way to drive the cat crazy.

Hey sweets - don't stop with the pictures, I love them! Don't you love having a pond? Mine is waaaay smaller, but it gives me so much pleasure in the spring and summer. I gave up on fish because of the racoons though - it attracted them to my yard in droves.
I saw your comment on Dawn's page - I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough week too. Maybe the planets are out of alignment or something - I don't know what else explains this malaise that we are all experiencing!
Sending you hugs -
fiwa
PS - Miss Lilly and Goat Girl are adorable too. :)
I tried the netting but I've got dogs and when one fell in the pond and almost drowned after getting tangled up I ditched the idea.
It's now the old "wire-strung-6ins-above-the-ground-all-the-way-round-the-pond trick. It seems to have worked.
My boys were still eating as recently as Tuesday. It's been a weird year, weather-wise!
Your pond reminded me of what happened to my son last spring at the nursery. We went to pick out flowers and stopped by the holding tanks of koi. They are kept by sizes, so we were strolling along and came upon the last tank that held the big muthas. My son, who is a little over 6 feet tall is leaning over the tank and he looks at me and asks, "Do they bite?" I told him no and just as he turned back, one of those bad boys jumped out of the tank, right at him. My son looked like Kramer on Seinfeld, losing his footing, falling backwards and me? Well, I still laugh like a hyena when I think about it.
So the fish are very pretty......but the ones I saw in Maui were the size of your cat!!!!!!! crazy big fishies!
